Abstract: | This report has been developed to inform the discussion at the World Health Assembly on the Comprehensive Implementation Plan on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition1 and is a compendium of the World Health Organization (WHO) guidance on effective nutrition programmes. The document covers different aspects of infant feeding in normal or exceptional circumstances, such as emergencies, HIV infections and diarrhoea, as well as nutrition of women of reproductive age in different physiological status. It also discusses the value of implementing such programmes in an integrated fashion and with the adequate quality and intensity. It is the first time that WHO provides such a summary, organized by stage of the life course. |
